After a seemingly endless odyssey, the rumors about the Galaxy S21 FE are slowly growing. The latest information underpins the previously known facts and the successor to the popular fan edition of the Galaxy S20 now appears again in a well-known benchmark.
Everything still seems to be turning out for the better: The Galaxy S21 FE seemed to have been completely written off and even deleted by Samsung for the time being. But in the last few weeks, the hotly anticipated Samsung smartphone has celebrated its comeback in the rumor mill. And not without reason: The Galaxy S21 FE has now appeared again in the Geekbench database. It ran through the course with equipment that is typical of Europe.
In its company’s history, Samsung has brought models to the global market more often than had a different chip installed depending on the region. The South Korean manufacturer has liked to build its own Exynos chips into devices that are on the shelves in Europe. That now also seems to be the fate of the Galaxy S21 FE. At least if Samsung continues to stick to this tradition.
The smartphone “SM-G990E” tested in Geekbench 5 is equipped with an Exynos 2100. That fits not only with previous rumors but also with the “fan edition” principle. Because the Galaxy S21 FE will be a discounted version of the Galaxy S21 (here with a contract). And that came onto the market in Europe with the aforementioned Exynos 2100 from Samsung.
Samsung SM-G990E Geekbench 5 (November 2021)
- Single-Core Score: 1102 (cut from four results)
- Multi-Core Score: 3328 (cut from four results)
According to the datasheet in Geekbench 5, there should be a whopping 8 GB of working memory. That also fits together with the Galaxy S21 and the previous rumors. So is it possibly already a final model that can be tested by selected people?
When is the Galaxy S21 FE coming?
It is quite possible. It is also possible, however, that it is simply some other model that we have not yet seen on our screen. Part of the truth is that the SM-G990E from Samsung was already shown in Geekbench in August 2021. At that time with a little less RAM, but at least with the Exynos 2100.
If you believe the rumor mill that is flaring up again, Samsung should redeem us at the beginning of January 2022: Then the Galaxy S21 FE will be presented at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. It will take place from January 5th to 8th, 2022. Until then we will have to be patient.
