COVID-19 cases raise in China, record two-year high

The situation is getting worse once again due to corona infection in China. Corona is growing at an uncontrollable pace even after strict implementation of the ‘Zero COVID Policy’. Within the last 24 hours, the highest number of corona cases was registered in China to date. After this, the government imprisoned 30 million people in their homes by imposing a lockdown in 11 cities.

According to the National Health Commission of China, 5,280 new cases of the corona were registered in the last 24 hours. This is more than double as compared to the previous day. Of these, more than 3,000 cases were reported in Jilin province alone. The cities where China has announced a lockdown also include Schengen with a population of 17 million.

Amid the uncontrollable pace of corona, infectious disease expert and virologist Zheng Wenhong has warned that it is a very difficult time for China. According to the Global Times, Wenhong said that this is not the time for China to lie and debate the zero-Covid policy. It would be better if such a strategy was made so that the corona could be controlled. This is the most difficult time for China, as the COVID-19 pandemic broke out two years ago.

The stock market also fell due to the increasing outbreak of the epidemic. Hong Kong’s stock market fell by more than 3% this morning. On the other hand, dozens of domestic flights were canceled at airports in Beijing and Shanghai. Buildings were completely sealed in many cities including Shanghai.

The people of Jilin province, located on the North Korean border, were banned from traveling outside and around the province. The governor of Jilin set the target of zero COVID within a week in an emergency meeting on Monday night.
