Finland & Sweden to submit NATO membership application soon

Finland and Sweden have agreed to submit applications by mid-May. If the application is approved, these two countries will soon become NATO members.

Sweden and Finland have completed preparations for membership in the US-led NATO alliance. Both countries have agreed to submit applications by mid-May. If the application is approved, these two countries will soon become NATO members. Let us tell you that these two countries have also been opposing the dictatorship of Russia during the Ukraine crisis. If these two countries get membership in NATO, then obviously they can become a challenge for Russia. However, Russia has also warned these two countries not to join NATO.

Russia has warned Sweden and Finland several times through bilateral diplomatic channels about the consequences of joining NATO. If in such a situation, both the countries are taking steps for the member, then in the coming time a major war cannot be ruled out. Significantly, Russia had warned these two countries that if Finland or Sweden decided to join NATO, Russia would deploy nuclear weapons near the Baltic countries and Scandinavia.

Finland shares a border of 1300 km with Russia. Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin also accepted Russia’s challenge, saying that her country would make a decision on joining NATO in the next few weeks.

The name of the organization which is being discussed the most in the Russia and Ukraine dispute is NATO. NATO was created in 1949. A total of 30 countries have taken its membership. If Finland and Sweden also get membership, the total number of member countries will be 32. The US does the most funding for this. NATO stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
