Following the recent announcement that Prince Harry will be attending the coronation of his father, King Charles III, without his wife Meghan Markle, reports have emerged suggesting that he engaged in “peace talks” with King Charles III and other members of the Royal Family prior to the ceremony scheduled for next month.
The media had been speculating for weeks about the couple’s attendance at the coronation before an official statement was released by their spokesperson. The statement disclosed that since the coronation was scheduled to take place on their son Archie’s fourth birthday, Meghan made the decision not to attend so that she could spend the day with him.
According to a report from The Telegraph, there were positive conversations between Prince Harry and King Charles before the official announcement was made by Buckingham Palace. The report states that while Prince Harry seems to be making an effort toward reconciliation with King Charles, it did not involve his brother Prince William.
The relationship between Prince Harry and his brother Prince William have been strained following the revelations made by Prince Harry in his memoir Spare, where he detailed an instance of physical assault by his brother. In the excerpts shared by The Guardian ahead of the book’s release earlier this year, Prince Harry described how William had referred to Meghan Markle as “difficult” and “rude.”
According to Prince Harry, during an argument, William grabbed him by the collar, ripped his necklace, and knocked him to the floor, causing him to land on a dog’s bowl that cut into his back. Although Prince Harry tried to reconcile with his brother in the past, the incident seems to have caused a permanent rift between them.
Prince Harry and Meghan were most recently seen with other members of the royal family at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth in September 2022. The couple got married in May 2018 and welcomed their son Archie in May 2019, followed by their daughter Lilibet in June 2021. After announcing their decision to step down as senior working royals in January 2020, Harry and Meghan have been candid about their experiences in the royal family and have since relocated to the United States, where they currently reside with their two children.
