She responded to a viral video from the Pardon My Take podcast that was critical of the 33-year-old singer’s recent appearances at the Kansas City Chiefs games and raised doubts about her reported relationship with Chiefs player Travis Kelce. Zegler not only characterized these comments as “cruel” toward the creator of “Midnights” but also pointed out her belief that some men may feel “entitled” to comment on women.
In a tweet, she wrote, “It’s no secret that the media can be excessively harsh toward Taylor Swift, but we really need to critically assess the sense of entitlement some men have when it comes to discussing women, their bodies, and their personal lives.”
She further stated, “This kind of discourse about women is rarely seen directed at men, and this applies to various situations. We don’t dissect men’s attitudes and relationships in the same manner as we do with women’s.” She added, “And it’s not solely men who engage in this kind of talk about us; women can and do as well. It’s disheartening.”
Following Rachel’s comments, she received responses that criticized her for her critique. In response, the West Side Story star said, “I see a lot of ‘it’s just a joke,’ but it’s essential to understand that for ages, ‘can’t take a joke’ has been synonymous with ‘let me make derogatory comments about women without facing consequences.’ We’re tired of it! It’s never been funny! Find something better to do!”
Rachel expressed her views in the midst of ongoing romance rumors surrounding Taylor and Travis. The accomplished songwriter made her debut at a Chiefs game held at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, MO, on September 24. Subsequently, she attended another game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, on October 1. On both occasions, she enthusiastically supported her rumored partner and his team, spending time with his mother, Donna Kelce, and even sharing a heartfelt hug at one point.
