At 56, Lisa Bonet is embarking on a new chapter in her life. Almost two years after the public announcement of her separation from ex-husband Jason Momoa, 44, the High Fidelity star has reportedly filed for divorce on January 8. According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, Lisa cited “irreconcilable differences” as the grounds for the divorce, indicating the official date of separation as October 7, 2020.
In the filed documents, the actress also addressed their two children. Lisa is reportedly seeking “joint child custody” of their kids, which includes their daughter Lola (born in 2007) and their son, Nakoa-Wolf (born in 2008). As a mother of three, having welcomed her daughter Zoë Kravitz from a previous relationship, she has additionally requested “no spousal support” from “either” party.
In January 2022, Jason had previously disclosed the conclusion of his marriage to Lisa through an Instagram statement. In the now-deleted message, the Fast X star shared reflections on a “transformational” phase in their relationship. He expressed, “We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding, and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring.” Jason also made it clear that the announcement was not an attempt to garner headlines.
“And so, we share our family news, that we are parting ways in marriage,” he continued to express. “We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy, but so that, as we go about our lives, we may do so with dignity and honesty.” The Hollywood heartthrob further added that his love for Lisa “carries on,” acknowledging that their love is “evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived.”
Following the initial announcement of their breakup, a source close to the couple informed Hollywood Life in February 2022 that Lisa and Jason had chosen to reconcile. The insider mentioned, “Jason moved back in with Lisa about two weeks ago, and they are very much back together. They decided to work on things rather than throw in the towel because they have so much invested in each other.” Despite their reconciliation two years ago, it is evident that they have now officially decided to end their relationship. Jason and his ex were initially linked in 2005 and later got married in 2017.
