Despite her busy schedule performing worldwide, Taylor Swift recently prioritized supporting a significant cause. The Edinburgh Food Project in Scotland revealed this week that the 34-year-old Grammy Award winner made a substantial donation to food banks throughout the city. The donation is expected to have a “long-lasting impact” on individuals facing food insecurity.
The organization recently shared via Instagram, “As fans gathered at Murrayfield on Friday for the first of three record-breaking gigs, Edinburgh Food Project received news of Taylor Swift’s generous donation to support food banks across the city. Taylor’s visit will be remembered in Edinburgh for years to come, and her gift will have a lasting impact on people experiencing crisis. Thank you, Taylor, for making a positive change in Edinburgh.”
Accompanying the Edinburgh Food Project’s caption was a photo showing Taylor on stage with the message, “Thank you, Taylor, for backing the food banks,” prominently displayed. The “Karma” artist also expressed her appreciation for the city in an Instagram post following her recent performances for fans over the weekend.
“Edinburgh!!! You completely amazed me this weekend,” Taylor wrote in her post. “Thank you for setting the all-time attendance record for a stadium show in Scotland three times in a row and for making us feel so welcome. Love you all, 220,000 of you!!!” Taylor’s next stop is Liverpool at Anfield Stadium on Thursday, June 13, marking her 100th Eras Tour performance. She will then head to Cardiff, Wales, on June 18, followed by a series of three shows at Wembley Stadium from June 21 to June 23. Her highly successful global tour kicked off in the U.S. in mid-2023, and she is set to return for her final U.S. shows in October.
Taylor has a history of donating generously to important causes. Earlier this year, in February, she contributed $100,000 to the family of a victim from the Kansas City Super Bowl parade shooting. “Sending my heartfelt sympathies and condolences following your tragic loss,” Taylor wrote on a GoFundMe page set up to support the family of shooting victim Lisa Lopez-Galvan.
