Will Smith banned from Oscars for 10 years after slapping Chris Rock

Hollywood actor Will Smith has been forced to slap comedian Chris Rock during the Oscar ceremony. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars) banned Will Smith on Friday. After this decision, Will will not be able to participate in any Oscar program for the next 10 years. At the same time, Will has said that he respects the decision of the Academy and he accepts this decision.

Academy President David Rubin said the decision was made because of Chris Rock slapping on stage during this year’s Oscars ceremony. The Board of Governors has also agreed to this decision. David said that after the incident, Will was allowed to sit at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and was presented with an award, prompting criticism from the Academy.

The 94th Oscar Awards Ceremony was held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on March 27. Meanwhile, on stage, comedian Chris Rock joked about the illness of actor Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett. Will was displeased with the joke and got up from his seat and went on stage and slapped Chris vigorously. Along with this, Will gave a warning to Chris and said never bring my wife’s name like that.

Actually, Chris Rock joked about the baldness of actress-singer Jada Pinkett, wife of Will Smith. Pinkett had her hair cut due to illness. Actually, she is battling alopecia disease, due to which the hair completely disappears from place to place in the head.

Will resigned from the Academy of Motion Pictures on March 29 after slapping the comedian. Will said in his statement after the resignation that the action I had done was very shameful and shocking. I apologize to all those whom I have hurt. I have betrayed the trust of the Academy. Whatever decision the board takes, I will accept it.
