Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, the highly anticipated seventh installment of Tom Cruise’s renowned spy thriller franchise, is scheduled for release in Indian theaters on Wednesday, July 12. The advance booking for the film commenced on Friday, July 7 and witnessed an overwhelming response, generating substantial ticket sales within a matter of hours.
Based on the impressive advance booking collection, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One has the potential to become Tom Cruise’s most successful box office opener in India. It should be noted that Tom Cruise was last seen in Christopher MacQuarrie’s highly acclaimed blockbuster, Top Gun: Maverick, which was released last year.
According to a report from Pinkvilla, by 3:30 pm on Friday, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One had already achieved an impressive advance booking of around 28,000 tickets for its opening day and 62,000 tickets for the first weekend in India. The cumulative estimate of tickets sold in advance before the film’s release is expected to surpass an impressive count of 1.10 lakh tickets.
According to the aforementioned report, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is expected to achieve an exceptional opening day box office collection in the range of ₹12 crore to ₹14 crore on July 12. If these predictions hold true, it would establish the film as Tom Cruise’s biggest box office opener in India to date. Notably, the previous installment, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, garnered ₹9.50 crore in its opening in India back in 2018. The new installment is anticipated to surpass that figure, indicating an upward trajectory in the franchise’s popularity.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is set to dominate the Indian box office for a consecutive nine-day period until the simultaneous release of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Barbie, featuring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, on Friday, July 21. As all three films are highly anticipated Hollywood tentpole releases, it is expected that Oppenheimer and Barbie will significantly impact the share of the Tom Cruise-starrer, drawing considerable attention and potentially affecting its box office performance.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two is slated for release on June 28, 2024, marking an anticipated conclusion to Tom Cruise’s journey as Ethan Hunt. This forthcoming installment is expected to serve as Tom Cruise’s final chapter in the Mission: Impossible franchise.
