Twitter introduces support for up to 10,000 characters and text formatting options

Elon Musk announced on March 6 that the social media platform was working towards increasing the tweet limit to 10,000 characters.

Twitter announced on Friday that it will now allow tweets up to 10,000 characters, and users can use bold and italic text formatting. However, users need to subscribe to Twitter Blue to access these features.

Twitter Blue subscription, which includes the ability to edit tweets, post longer videos, access to new features before they are released, and view 50% fewer ads, is now available in India. Users can subscribe to it for ₹650 per month on the website and ₹900 per month on mobile. Annual subscribers can save ₹1,000 and pay ₹6,800 instead of ₹7,800. With this subscription, users can edit their tweets up to five times within 30 minutes of posting and can now also use bold and italic text formatting.

Earlier today, Elon Musk announced that Twitter users can offer their followers subscriptions to long-form content and hours-long videos. Under this plan, the users who offer subscriptions will receive all the money that subscribers pay, with the exception of the fees charged by platforms like Android and iOS. Twitter will not take a cut of the revenue for the first 12 months.

Since taking over last October, Musk has implemented significant changes to the company with the aim of increasing revenue. During the lead-up to his $44 billion takeover, the social media platform experienced a decline in advertising revenue. As a result, the company introduced a paid service for Twitter-verified blue ticks and reduced its employee count by approximately 80%.
