
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is on a two-day visit to India. Johnson reached New Delhi on the last day of the tour on Friday. After talking to Prime Minister Modi, Johnson also answered questions from the media. On handing over fugitive businessman Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya to India, Johnson said- Our government has given approval for extradition, but the matter is entangled in legal complications. We will not allow any person who is a declared criminal in India to misuse the law of our country.
On the question of the presence of Khalistanis in Britain, the British Prime Minister said- I want to make it very clear that we will not tolerate fundamentalists or terrorists at all. To help India, we have formed Anti Extremist Force. Both the countries are in touch on the issue of human rights. There is a system of constitutional protections for all in India and we feel it too.
Earlier, PM Narendra Modi welcomed Johnson at Hyderabad House. Even Johnson, who was happy with the Istqbal met in India, could not hide his happiness. Said- I feel as if I am Sachin Tendulkar or Amitabh Bachchan. I am thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this grand welcome. Johnson was in Modi’s home state Gujarat on Thursday. Here he also saw the Sabarmati Ashram. During this, Johnson was also seen spinning the spinning wheel.
Johnson was the first to thank Modi for the warm welcome to India. Said- Thank you Prime Minister Modi and the people of India for the wonderful welcome. When I reached here, I felt like I was Sachin Tendulkar. Then looking at the hoardings all around, I felt like I am Amitabh Bachchan. Modi is my special friend anyway.
On Friday, Johnson and Modi reviewed relations between India and Britain. During this, strategic defense, diplomacy, and economic partnership were discussed between the two. Security cooperation was also an important part of the talks in the wake of China’s challenge in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
Ukraine issue was also discussed during the Modi-Johnson talks. On a question made about this, Johnson said – India and Russia have historical relations and the world knows about it. It is absolutely certain that this relationship will not change.
Johnson also visited the Raj Ghat, the mausoleum of Mahatma Gandhi, on Friday. Here he paid his respects. He was received by Union Minister Rajiv Chandrashekhar at the airport.
Earlier, Johnson met Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met. During this, discussions were held between the two countries on the Expanding Partnership and implementation of the Indo-UK Roadmap 2030.
